Come on!
What difficulties did you encounter while learning to dance?
"In the past, when I was dancing, my teachers didn't like me, and they didn't have high hopes for me. I would always be placed in the corners during choreography, and it seemed that I wasn't considered a very talented student by my teachers. When I reached junior high school, I encountered a teacher who always encouraged me, and that's when I started to improve my dancing skills. In the department of dance, it was easy to become the subject of ridicule because I didn't dance well before and I was often laughed at. However, when I met this teacher who appreciated my potential, I started to improve, and that's how I ended up where I am now. Otherwise, in the past, everyone thought I wouldn't continue on the path of dance. But guess what? I'm a dance teacher now! Come on! So, as a teacher myself, students must encounter a good teacher."
What prompted the teacher to join the cheerleading team?
"I went to study in Australia for a year, and I joined a club at their university. I ended up joining their cheerleading team and started traveling with them for competitions. I enjoyed cheerleading, and when I returned to Taiwan, I initially joined a cheerleading team for a baseball team. However, I eventually quit because baseball was just too exhausting. Then, an older sister asked me if I wanted to join the basketball cheerleading team, and since I also loved basketball, I thought I'd give it a try, and that's how I got in."

Is this the teacher’s dream since childhood?
"Yes! I used to tell my mom when I was little that I wanted to join a cheerleading team when I grew up. I was determined to be a cheerleader because during my childhood, there were many American TV shows, and the most popular people were always in the cheerleading team. Then, I said I had to be a cheerleader, even if I wasn't very good at dancing. I just felt that I should be a part of it because I believed it suited me. I thought I would shine on stage, and that's what I love."
In a team, are you very competitive with your teammates?
"We are teammates and comrades, but the competition is quite intense because in this field, it's not just about your skills; it's also about your popularity. Regardless of whether you dance well or not, as long as you have popularity, people will want to work with you in this industry. It's a very practical aspect of it, so having a following is crucial, and competition is high. Everyone may seem friendly, but there will always be competition; that's for sure!"

Do you often hear gossip? How did you solve it?
"Just pretend you didn't hear it. You have to act like you didn't hear it because there's not much you can do. You can't confront that person and ask, 'What did you say about me?' That won't work. When you hear something, if it's possibly a rumor or false, then you should address it. But if it's about you, you just have to act like you didn't hear it, don't engage with it. People have different interpretations, and after you say something, they might understand it differently. For example, if someone says, 'Livia, are you doing great now?' Some people might interpret it as sarcasm, while others might take it positively and say, 'Yes, I am doing great.' Interpretations can vary, so it's best not to engage and just ignore it because you can't address everything.”
Have you ever regretted working in this industry?
"No, I don't have any regrets about anything I've done because they are all experiences in my life."

What advice would you give to students who are passionate about dance and want to become professional dancers?
"It's all about dancing, just keep dancing, and find what you love because if you love dancing, keep moving in that direction. Who knows, you might discover various paths within it. For example, you might want to continue as a dancer, become a choreographer, or even become a teacher – it's all possible. Slowly discover the direction that suits you best; it's important. If you don't have a direction, you won't know how to put in the effort. But when you have a sense of direction, you'll improve more and more. You work hard to a certain level, and you'll find another direction. So don't reject dancing to different styles, whether it's male or female, Chinese, contemporary, or ballet – just dance the way you love. Find your own path, and you'll be on the right track!"
Key Takeaway from the Interview
"Be open-minded and dance different moves and styles, whether it is male dance, female dance, Chinese dance, modern dance, or ballet. Dance whatever you like and find your own style. That’s the right direction! Just find your path!”
